New Mystery Walkers Flavours

Hi all, it’s been a long time since I blogged about anything. However I finally have something new to review.

 In early December I got talking to Walkers Crisps on Twitter and they contacted me asking if I would be interested in taste testing some new flavours are are planning on launching in early 2012. Of course I jumped at the chance as I love all types of snack foods but particularly crisps.

 So here we are a few weeks later and a small package arrived for me at work, right away I could tell what it was due to the walkers logo on the address label.

 After opening the box, I found three packets of Walkers Crisps with plain white packets and a label on the front of each giving a rough idea of what the mystery flavours were. And the main ingredients but still no real clue as to what I would be tasting.

 The Three flavours are mystery Meaty flavour, mystery Spicy flavour and mystery Dairy flavour Potato Crisps. Very vague to be honest, the one that had me most intrigued though was the Dairy flavour and was there for the one I decided to try first. So here goes………..

 As soon as I opened the packet I got the aroma of what I think is cheese & chive or something very similar. The label states it contains celery, so possibly cheddar and celery? Next I took the plunge and tried a couple., right away I got the taste of cheese and herbs, but of course its apparently celery.

 I really like them and can’t wait to see if I am even remotely close to the real flavour. I even let a few colleagues try them and they also agreed about the possible flavour and more importantly they really enjoyed them too.

 Big thumbs up for the 1^st mystery flavour.

Next up is the mystery Spicy flavour, which gives no clue on the small label as to the spices contained within the plain white packaging. I hope it’s a nice spicy taste and not too hot……

First impressions of the aroma are its quiet a mild spice and smells a bit like Paprika, onion and a few other mild possibly sweet spices. Taste wise I am sure there is some paprika in there and it’s a very enjoyable taste, not too strong or over powering.  Again just my thoughts, but could be totally incorrect.

Lastly I have the Meaty mystery flavour…..

Now real clues on the label as to what the meaty flavour is, could be beef or pork but could easily be horse or dog, joking of course. Smell wise I think its roast pork with a smoked hint to it. There are small flecks of herb on the crisps too.

 I think the taste is smoked roast pork with herbs and spices, but again I can’t confirm the accuracy of my taste buds, hehe. Overall I do really like the taste of these crisps and they could become my new filling of choice in a crisp sandwhich.

 All three flavours are due out near the end of January with the competition running till the beginning of March. There will be voting on www.walkers.co.uk and www.facebook.com/walkers to guess what you think the flavour is. The winner of each flavour will get £50,000.
